2001-2002 BULL TEST –- 2001-2002 BULL TEST – 2001-2002
BULL TEST
I would like to invite you to participate in the third annual Highland Central Bull Test at Drover Hill Farm. Over the last two years we have tested 45 bulls from across the US and Canada, and have sold 34 bulls for $61,200 to average $1800 per bull. Besides providing an excellent marketing opportunity for Highland breeders, the test has enabled these breeders to have their bulls evaluated against others under the same environmental conditions. The data collected has proven to be invaluable for showing Highland cattle’s ability to perform and the variation of genetic quality within the breed. And finally the Bull Test Sale has allowed buyers a chance to select top quality genetics backed by solid performance numbers.
The test will run under the same format as the last two years. Bulls born between February 1- April 30, 2001 will be eligible. Bull will either be picked up in Cambridge Ohio the weekend of November 9-10 or delivered to Drover Hill Farm on the weekend of November 16-17. There will be a warm up period followed by a 140 day test. This year we are pleased to announce that the Cashman family has offered their beautiful farm to host the sale, which will be on April 27, 2002. The farm is located in Delaware Ohio. We are hoping to make the sale weekend a special event to include a “show” of the sale bulls plus a female sale. More details on the sale will follow when available.
Please read the rules carefully. There have been several changes to the health requirements and the sale requirements. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at (315) 691-2327 or e-mail at droverhill@aol.com.
