1.
All animals must be
registered with the American Highland Cattle Association or the Canadian
Highland Cattle Society
2.
Entry fee is $30
per animal with the exception of group classes, and Due by March 20, 2003
3.
Cattle must be in
place, MAY 2,2003 AT 12:00 NOON.
4.
Exhibitors are
required to post a card over each animal stating: Name, Registration
Number, Birthdate, Sire & Dam.
5.
Exhibitor's number
must be worn while showing.
6.
Farm signs and
decorations are encouraged.
7.
All cattle must be
tied with a neck rope in addition to a regular halter.
8.
The exhibitor is
responsible for the health of his/her animals.
The Show Committee has the right to call for the services of a
veterinarian for the treatment of an animal that is sick or injured if the exhibitor
is not available. The fee must be paid
by the exhibitor prior to the release of the animal.
9.
Any animal deemed
uncontrollable by the Ring Steward will be excused from the show ring.
10.
Rule violations
will be handled by the AHCA, and they reserve the right to refuse any entry
application. Artificially altering the natural conformation or structure of an
animal is strictly prohibited for this event.
In addition, the use of growth hormones is forbidden. Every exhibitor bringing his animals to the
show represents his animals as being free from unnatural alteration and growth
hormones. Each exhibitor also agrees to
submit any entries to any inspection deemed necessary.
11.
The Show Committee
will use reasonable diligence to insure the safety of exhibitors after their
arrival and placement, but in no case will they be responsible for any loss or
damage done to, occasioned by, or arising from any animals or article on
exhibition. The exhibitors shall
indemnify the Show Committee, The American Highland Cattle Association and the
Mid Atlantic Highland Association of all legal or other proceedings in regard
thereto. The placing of any exhibits on
the show grounds by any and all signify their agreement to abide by this rule.
12.
Bulls twelve months
of age or older must be shown with rings or nose leads.
13.
Premier Breeder
& Premier Exhibitor awards will be given to the breeder or exhibitor having
the highest number of points based on a maximum of the six highest placing
animals in the single classes owned by that breeder or exhibitor. Points shall be awarded as follows: 1st
- 7 pts., 2nd - 6pts., 3rd - 5pts., 4th
- 4pts., 5th - 3pts., 6th - 2 pts., 7th - 1
pt. NO points for Division or Grand
Champions.
14.
Animals shown in
the Junior Showmanship Division must first be entered in their respective open
division classes.
15.
AHCA Rules for
Sanctioned Shows
a.
Exhibitors must be
members in good standing of the American Highland Cattle Association or the
Canadian Highland Cattle Society.
b.
All animals must be
owned by the exhibitor and registered with AHCA or the CHCS
c.
Registration papers
must be presented to show officials or AHCA representatives upon request.
d.
Tatoos must be
legible and correspond to registration papers.
e.
Use of hormones or
steroids in animals exhibited is prohibited.
f.
Breeding cattle may
not be dehorned.
g.
Exhibitors agree to
abide by the IAFE (International Association of Fair and Expositions) National
Code of Ethics.
HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
1.
An Official
Interstate or Intrastate Certificate from the state of origin must accompany
all animals.
2.
Cattle with signs
of infection, contagious or toxicological disease shall be removed from the
show, or be isolated on the premise.
3.
TB – All animals
must have tested negative for tuberculosis within 30 days prior to the show or
originate from a tuberculosis free herd.
4.
Brucellosis – All
non-vaccinates must have a negative brucellosis result within 30 days prior to
the show. Vaccinated females over 18
months of age and bulls over 6 months of age must test negative for brucellosis
within 30 days prior to the show.
Vaccinates under 18 months require no test.
5.
All animals must be
vaccinated/boostered against BVD within 180 days prior to the show and no fewer than 15 days prior to the show.
6.
The results of the
vaccinations and tests must be recorded on the health chart.

charge for group classes, but please indicate so on entry form. (Get of sire, Produce of Dam, Breeders Herd)

Be sure to
include name of sire for Get of Sire and the name of dam for Produce of Dam

Cow/Calf please
include the name, age and sire of both the cow and the calf. Calf must be cow's natural calf be a maximum of 250 days old.
